Cope with Courage

Where evidence-based care meets fun.

About Cope with Courage

What if therapy didn't feel like therapy?

At Cope with Courage, we create opportunities for kids to learn to face what’s hard – whether that’s big fears, overwhelming emotions, or tricky moments that catch them off guard.

Our programs are built on evidence-based therapy approaches and led by experienced clinical psychologists, but they don’t feel like therapy. Kids show up to face fears, navigate emotions, build flexibility, and try things that feel hard. They leave with tools that work, new ways to face tough moments, and the relief of knowing other kids get it too.

What We Do

Evidence-based care, reimagined.

Cope with Courage takes proven therapeutic approaches and reimagines how they’re delivered. We use the best evidence-based treatments in youth mental health but bring them out of the clinic and into camps, groups, and real-world experiences where kids can practice together, learn by doing, and support one another along the way. Our programs are active, experiential, and fun – while remaining grounded in the strongest science in the field.

Our Approach

Evidence-based.
Kid-centered.
Built on community.

We use proven therapeutic approaches – including ACT, DBT, CBT, and ERP – to help kids understand their emotions, handle distress, and move toward the things that matter to them, even when it’s hard.

But we don’t teach by lecturing or explaining. We teach by doing. Kids practice in real time through games, challenges, exposures, and hands-on experiments. They face fears, try new strategies, and move through tricky emotions in the moment with expert guidance and peer support.

Clinicians coach kids step by step while a group of peers works alongside them – making hard things feel more doable and far less lonely. By practicing in the moment, new behaviors and skills don’t just make sense in theory, they stick.

Cope with Courage is an Emory-affiliated therapeutic summer program offered through the Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences.

Through Practice & Belonging

Confidence Grows

Kids practice real skills in real moments, with a group of peers right alongside them. The connections and shared wins are just as much a part of the growth as the skills themselves.
